Work and Placements

Aston Group’s ‘Pipeline to Employment’ programme was designed to support local people into work, through a variety of free activities and events.

Research suggests that 50% of all employees will need reskilling by 2025 (The Future of Jobs Report, World Economic Forum 2021), especially as adoption of technology increases, the ability to develop and practice a range of skills is becoming increasingly important.

We appreciate that our communities contain a diverse knowledge base, skill set and range of abilities and experiences. We have therefore devised a selection of different avenues to access and engage residents of all ages and backgrounds, and where possible utilise a blended delivery of virtual and face to face engagement.

We have been delighted at the response we have received across our employability initiatives, and heartened to identify the wealth of skill, talent, aptitude and enthusiasm exhibited by residents.

This method has resulted in Aston Group, not only being able to extend offers of employment to some of the many talented members of our local communities, it has also enabled us to help support them, develop and embed the knowledge, confidence and skills to seek employment in a wide variety of fields and industries.

How much does it cost?
All of our programmes are free, and with apprenticeships and some internships and work experiences, you can even earn while you learn!

Are there any restrictions to age, nationality or employment status?
No, we do not discriminate and are happy to support any of our local residents

Do I need any qualifications or experience?
Not for the vast majority of our pre-employment programme. However, some apprenticeships or internships may require a certain level of qualification or experience, depending on the level or role.

When and where do events take place?
Apprenticeships, work experience placements and internships take place within our company and supply chain. All of our other activities can be delivered virtually, or face to face in local community centres, job centres and libraries.

Check out our short apprentice video working in collaboration with Waltham Forest College and Mike Page from Residual Current. They all worked on installing an electric vehicle charger at a residential property to help everyone gain more knowledge and share experiences.
